Natural Resource Investment Program

Natural Resource Investment Program

This project is supported by the Queensland Government

We are working to achieve three key outcomes as part of our project delivery under the Natural Resource Investment Program (NRIP).

  • Improve soil health and stability, primarily by increasing ground cover quality and working with graziers to identify and implement improved livestock management, undertake strategic pest and weed control, and use appropriate burning regimes.
  • Improve the condition and extent of high-value native vegetation by working with land managers to reduce key threats such as invasive pests and weeds, vegetation thickening, and inappropriate fire and grazing regimes.
  • Reduce the amount of sediment flowing into our region’s waterways and improve riparian condition by supporting priority erosion remediation works.

Our NRIP project represents a $3 million investment from the Queensland Government from January 2019 to June 2022.

About

To achieve the three key outcomes, there are a wide range activities that have been and will continue to be rolled out by our team and delivery partners until 2022.

Activities include field and demonstration days, peer-to-peer learning, expert presentations, working with First Peoples, monitoring land and vegetation condition and water quality, and sharing project stories with community.

Check the priority area maps on our 'Resources' page to see where the priority action areas are for the our NRIP project throughout the Condamine, Maranoa-Balonne and south west regions.
