THE SOUTHERN QUEENSLAND REGION

WHY IS IT SPECIAL?

Spanning 314, 398 square kilometres, (30% bigger than the state of Victoria) our region unites the Condamine catchment, Queensland Murray-Darling Basin,

South West and Mulga Lands.

Within these areas are 61 National Parks, 56 Nature Refuges and 109 state forests. Our region also contains 262 unique primary regional ecosystems, 1,162 animal species, 4,309 plant species and 991 fungi species existing in six bioregions. Needless to say, it's a special corner of Queensland.

FIRST NATIONS

We believe our First Nation Peoples hold the key to learning how to bring landscapes back into balance given their 40,000 plus years (over 1,600 generations) of stewardship of our lands. We respect and learn from the 28 Nations in our region and further afield, while working together to develop pathways to a sustainable future including sustainable businesses to ensure First Nation Peoples have employment and growth opportunities.
